Alumni

More than 125,000 people have been Foundation programme participants. They are scattered across the world — and they remain part of the Rotary family.

Who is an alum?

Eight programmes, one network

Rotary considers anyone who has received a Foundation scholarship or participated in a Rotary youth or vocational programme to be an alum.

The alumni network includes former participants in Rotaract, Interact, Rotary Youth Exchange, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), the Rotary Peace Fellowship, Foundation scholarships, vocational training teams, and other local and regional programmes.

Many alumni return to Rotary as members. Others go on to lead in government, business, education, and the third sector — and they remain enthusiastic ambassadors for the work that shaped them.

Why alumni matter

A worldwide community of advocates

Alumni are talented, committed people who know Rotary well. They share the vision of furthering world understanding and peace, and they personalise Rotary’s work in a way membership statistics never can.

They volunteer for service projects — local and international. They speak at Rotary functions. They become future members. Many become future donors. And they’re often the first to recommend Rotary scholarships and exchanges to the next generation.

  • Alumni associations bring graduates together for networking, service, and social events.
  • Alumni chairs in each district help connect alumni with clubs, scholarship opportunities, and recognition awards.
  • Foundation alumni recognition includes the Rotary Alumni Association of the Year and the Rotary Alumni Global Service Award.
